AMAZING GOLF COURSE FROM COAST TO COASTCANADIAN GOLF COURSES
Find a golf course in Canada
Contrary to popular belief, Canada is not stuck in winter conditions most of the year. At worst, some parts of the country have 5 good months of golf and in other parts, 8 months.
Canada is home to a wide variety of golf courses.
Courses that range from classics designed by native son Stanley Thompson. To modern stunners from Coore & Crenshaw. There’s no shortage of phenomenal golf in the Great White North.
Whether you prefer the rugged cliffs of Nova Scotia, the dramatically jagged backdrop of the Canadian Rockies, or a simply stern test of golf, the golfer can find all of it in spades in Canada.
#1 CABOT CLIFFS
CABOT CLIFFS – Inverness, Nova Scotia
This stunner shot to the top of the list the moment it opened in 2016. Coore & Crenshaw’s deft routing combines with a jaw-dropping site to produce Canada’s one must-play course.
#2: ST GEORGE’S GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
ST GEORGE’S GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB – Etobicoke, Ontario
Host of five Canadian Open tournaments. It is a tight and twisting journey through majestic Canadian parkland. It is always in immaculate condition.
#3: FAIRMONT JASPER PARK LODG
FAIRMONT JASPER PARK LODGE – Jasper, Alberta
Set in the Rockies, this resort course, designed by Stanley Thompson. It is challenging without being brutal. The mountains and lake views are constant and spectacular.
#4: CABOT LINKS
CABOT LINKS – Inverness, Nova Scotia
The older sister to Cabot Cliffs, set on more linksy but less dramatic terrain, is not quite as dazzling but isn’t far behind and it’s hard to think of any destination with a more impressive duo.
#5: NATIONAL GOLF CLUB
NATIONAL GOLF CLUB – Woodbridge, Ontario
In 1975, George Fazio and his yet-to-be-famous nephew Tom were told to create the toughest course in Canada, and that is exactly what they did, a gauntlet of narrow fairways, small vexing greens, beckoning lakes and streams, steep hills, forced carries, and uneven lies.
#6: FAIRMONT BANFF SPRINGS
FAIRMONT BANFF SPRINGS – Banff, Alberta
Few if any courses can claim a more striking natural site. The signature hole, the par-three “Devil’s Cauldron,” plays downhill 200 yards across a shimmering glacial lake.
#7: HAMILTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
HAMILTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB (South & West) – Ancaster, Ontario
A Harry Colt classic dating to 1916, it will host next year’s Canadian Open, 100 years after Bobby Jones made his only appearance in the event, finishing second at the age of 17.
#8: CAPILANO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB
CAPILANO GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB – West Vancouver, British Columbia.
Perched on a hillside overlooking Vancouver, this Thompson design is a delightful walk in the park, with a variety of shotmaking assignments.
#9: DEVIL’S PAINTBRUSH
DEVIL’S PAINTBRUSH – Caledon, Ontario
This is links golf without a links setting—humps and hummocks, fescue and pot bunkers, wide fairways and few trees, even a couple of double greens—all nestled in the hill country north of Toronto.
#10: HIGHLANDS LINKS
HIGHLANDS LINKS – Ingonish Beach, Nova Scotia
This rugged Stanley Thompson design, set in a national park, has had its ups and downs conditioning-wise, but its superb bones and a recent restoration keep it among the top 10.
